Check a website in a real browser

Before you start

You’ll make: A browser check with screenshots and a clear list of any broken interactions.

• Codex installed and signed in, with a project open.
• Node.js and npm available so the skill can use npx.
• A test page you own or are allowed to inspect.

Run these checks in your terminal before the install prompt.

1. Install the skill

Paste into a Codex conversation, not your terminal shell.

$skill-installer playwright

This installs OpenAI’s curated Playwright skill. Its wrapper can use npx without a separate global Playwright CLI install. Review any browser or dependency download request.

Open the official source below and review SKILL.md, scripts, and the license. If the skill is missing after installation, start a new session or follow the agent’s reload guidance.

2. Try a small task

Copy this into a new Codex conversation. Replace example filenames with your own non-sensitive files where needed.

$playwright Open https://tech4ssd.com/skills. Check that the Codex filter works and a guide opens. Take a screenshot and report the result. Do not submit forms, sign in, or change any account settings.

3. Check the result

• The agent names the Playwright skill and opens a real browser.
• It shows the filter result and the opened guide, not just a code inspection.
• The report includes evidence and names anything it could not test.

If something doesn’t work

npx is missing

Install Node.js from nodejs.org, then open a new terminal and repeat the version checks.

Browser launch or download is blocked

Read the exact permission or network error. Approve only a trusted dependency download; do not disable your security settings.
