Lesson plan
What you will build
You will have a repeatable workflow for recreating a short cinematic scene with a new character using a depth reference, plus a universal prompt you can adapt to any clip by asking an AI agent to analyze the exact reference video first.
Tools used
- TECH4SSD Video → Depth tool
- CapCut (manual alternative)
- Codex or Claude (optional, for building your own converter)
- An AI video generator with Seedance support or equivalent reference-video capability
- Luma AI or your preferred creative studio for supporting visual work
Requirements
- A short reference video you are allowed to use
- A character image or character sheet for the person you want to place into the scene
- Access to an AI video generator that accepts video and image references
- Optional: access to Codex, Claude, or another coding agent if you want to build your own converter

Follow the lessons in order.
Each lesson includes the exact action to take, the reason it matters, and a checkpoint before you move on.
Lesson 01 of 08
1. Choose a short scene with clear motion
Pick a short reference clip where the movement is visually obvious: a character turn, walk, dodge, gesture, fall, or camera move. Short clips are easier to control and easier to compare. Use footage you own, have permission to use, or are otherwise permitted to work with. Depth conversion does not grant rights to copyrighted footage.
Check before continuing
- Reference clip is short
- Motion is easy to see
- You are permitted to use the footage
